About me

Thanks for visiting my site! I am Gabor Bakos from Hungary. In the begining photography was not my passion but many years ago a Nikon F50 captivated me and this feeling is countinuos since. I switched the F50 for a different conventional film body before I was seduced by Canon's much more sophisticated digital technology at the time.

I frequently use a camera since I purchased my first aparatus, I always have it with me and the shutter button is a good friend of mine. At first I only made refuse pictures but during the years much better pictures were born...

In the analogue years I didn't care that I didn't know exactly how a picture was made but since the digital revolution I had to understand exactly what goes on inside the camera, so I read the books and trained myself to be up to date with all available technologies.

Exploration, traveling, adventure and nature has been a part of my life since I was a child. I conducted this webpage so I can share my experiences with you. Have a look at my pictures and share your thoughts about them. Follow my blog on Facebook or write an e-mail!

A simple monitor calibration method using a grayscale strip:

Monitor Calibration Strip

It's important to calibrate your monitor to see all the tonal differences in the photos included in the gallery, and also you want to be confident that you see what others see. Here's a quick and easy way to do the calibration.

1. Using the lighting you normally work with, place a piece of white paper beside the monitor
2. Study the grayscale
3. Adjust the monitor's brightness and contrast so you can see differences between all the squares, and the white square is about the same brightness as the piece of paper

Note: If you change your surrounding lighting, repeat these 3 steps again.
